ROLL WITH THE CHANGES

Before I begin, I want to share positive news about how successful the Liberia mission is doing WITHOUT missionaries and ONLY members. Each week Liberia is getting double digit baptisms! What a fruitful mission I was blessed to be apart of!

I pray everyone is doing well during this time. COVID-19 has caused the work here and everywhere to be different. The foreigners in Ghana are being falsely persecuted for the virus and people are beginning to be cruel. The government has advised all people stay home and reject visitors. It's not easy in Ghana to be quarantined because missionary work can't continue much with the lack of technology.

I arrived in Budumbrum Liberia refugee camp on Tuesday. I am here with (Liberia) Elders Pluim, Fullmer, and Bates. I'm also here with my beloved companion Elder Engwendu and Elder Bate's companion, Elder Watson. We are lucky to be together during this time.

Recently I heard the song, "Roll with the changes" by REO Speedwagon. It was playing on the street in our area. I thought it was convenient considering my current situation. I'm not entirely sure what is to come of me but from what I understand... As soon as possible they will return all West Africa missionaries to their home countries where they will stay at home for 14 days in self quarantine and then return to the ministry soon after within their home country. Im not sure if they will allow me to just finish my mission honorably because I'm already 20 months and my wardrobe is not appropriate for a state-side mission. Certainly not in the current cold weatherπŸ˜‚ I'm also very worn out with all these changes😬 Nevertheless, I will do what I need to receive an honorable release and if that means going back out for a couple months... so be itπŸ˜‚ However, it's not likely. In other words, I will roll with the changes and keep on rolling!

I'm sad because this will be my SECOND mission evacuation. I'm also very sad I won't return to Liberia as a missionary. I also won't get the long awaited fantasized homecoming but at the same time, I'm excited to see at least my mom and dad again. Hopefully I can play Xbox and eat Chick-fil-A during my quarantineπŸ˜‚πŸ˜ I am so incredibly thankful for the missionary department at this time. I can only imagine how busy they are right now! It's incredible how much the Lord cares for his missionaries. I feel very safe and you should too.

The Savior is coming very soon. Missionaries are returning to their homes which is a sign of the times. The Angel Moroni's trumpet has miraculously fallen which fulfills the prophecy of Amos in the Old Testament. The earthquake that caused it is also a sign of the times. COVID-19 and the rumors of wars with Iran is also fulfilling prophecy. Immorality, and pornography is growing which is a sign. Medical and also technology advances are a sign. The Gospel has reached almost every nation. General conference center will be empty this April which will reduce a hectic commotion when the Prophet announces (this is a joke prediction but could be true) the commandment to move to Zion in Missouri. And lastly, the saints will know the signs of the times more than anyone else... which we do. Prepare now to meet God! Do not procrastinate your day of repentance! You never know when your life mission will be evacuatedπŸ˜‰

I'll keep you updated on my return! I love you all! Stay strong and healthy! God bless America, Ghana, Liberia, and all other countries afflicted at this time. KEEP ON ROLLING!!πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡πŸ‡±πŸ‡·

Love, Elder Horace Hallenberger

  1. Love you Elder Hallenberger, you have served a very honorable mission and your blog has touched many, maybe they will have you do a few months of Family History work, indexing so there can be more names readied for temple blessings when the temples open again. There is much work to be done and as you said not much time to do it. Love Grandma A
P.S. can't wait to see you again maybe we will have to come by and wave at you through the window, haha
